Independent Writing (You): This writing is generated by students. During the final phase of the gradual release of responsibility model, students are creating original texts and working on their own to accomplish the task. Sometimes students may help each other. I will confer with students at this time. The majority of time is devoted to independent writing, which includes rewriting, drafting, revising, editing and publishing their pieces. Publishing writing by sharing the work beyond the classroom will empower the students. Possible publishing platforms include the writer’s chair, our class Weebly, digital stories, school assemblies, digital stories, school writer’s club magazine, smories.com, and many more.
